Confessions of a Science NerdThe last day of the year.
The last month of the year.
The last chapter in a series of great events
And wonderful people.
This shall be the end,
Goodbye 2006...
Dear fellow readers,
I sincerely apologize for the lack of enthusiasm for blogging during the past few months. It just somehow happens that my computer is unable to cope with the strenuosity of my family's needs and without notice, it crashes. As an normal human being that is oblivious to the fact that I could have used another computer to blog, I formally declare that it was my fault that my blog is extremely deserted, even on peak hours.
Now for my own confessions. I'm not exactly sure if I could make this post my longest one yet, but rest assured that every ounce of effort will be put into use to describe this post so as to produce a strong or clear impression on your very senses. Confessing about how I went through every single event of 2006 would explicitly be too embarrassing for me. Hence, confessing the most memorable and not so happy moments of 2006 is thus far very appropriate.
You're leaving so soon
Never had a chance to bloom
But you were so quick to change your tune
Don't look back as if I'm a weight around your neck
Because if you don't need me, I don't need you.
Confession #1I came into my new class, 3E, with the intention of enjoying my first year as a senior in the school. Of course I did, all the laughter and fun were just the right type for cheering me up any day. Furthermore, the people are extremely friendly and some of them even welcomed me into their friendship circles. I found it really hard to hate anyone, they were just too nice to be treated with such hatred! I even wondered if 3E could be better than my former class, 2C. As the months passed, I discovered that 3E, being as wonderful and friendly as it is, lacked something that my former class had. Something that I totally enjoyed, something that I treasured so much. That being class spirit. During the 2C year, there were so many outings that it ran into the double digits! However for 3E, there was only a single outing late in the year, and I'm not even sure if 75% of the class came. I then thought to myself, whats the point of being in a friendly class if there is no class spirit? Maybe what my form teacher said was right, 3E dosen't have any class spirit at all. Secondary 2 is the streaming year, so it should be concluded that Secondary 2 is more demanding than Secondary 3 life. But why were there more outings in Secondary 2 than in Secondary 3? Maybe 3E was just too busy to spend time together as a whole class.
I look out for you
Come rain or shine
What good does it do?
Confessions #222 July 2006, Saturday
Bedok Reservior Park
Tk Golden Run
No one remembers this day as much as I do. Almost had a very sleepless night the day before. Woke up, bathed (you expect me not to?), wore my track pants and 50th anniversary shirt and met my closest guy friend, at Bedok Interchange. I remembered not eating breakfast so I think I bought some food before boarding the bus to the reservior park. Eventually I was late for my warm-up, which required 15 minutes of extensive stretching for such an important race. However, I only managed to do about half the warm-up exercise. When the race started, I could recall some people, or idiots as I would call them at that time, rushing to take the lead. Being the cautious me, I didn't chase after them and I did my usual tactic, which was to use my stamina to overtake them one by one. Within a few minutes, I was unsurprisingly in the lead and still had half of the race left to go. There was also a Secondary 2 guy running in the same pack as me and I could remember blocking his way to get an advantage! Nothing much was going through my mind at that time but I kept telling the guys to pace one another as we were running quite fast then. Eventually my stitch came and I started cursing immediately. I told my rival that I couldn't take it anymore and I wanted to stop. As impossible as it seems, he put his hand over my shoulder and urges me to carry on. I told him that he was a very good friend to do that to me but I couldn't take the stitch anymore and started to walk. Upon looking up ahead into the distance, I saw them running towards the finishing line. I lost to him again for the third year running. The thophy which I received later was broken into two pieces and I want it to remain that way, to remind me of my loss. He told me the reason he won was because he drew his girlfriend's name on his arm. Well, I will definitely do that next year! =)
This boy is quite spectacular
Not a boy but a wealthy bachelor
I want a car, I want a car!
Confessions #3For once, I'd talk about a positive stuff for a change. Actually, I'd would like to thank someone, that particular person being the one that put me in the class combination that I'm in now. Honestly, I had managed to show him why I deserved to be in pure sciences rather than combined. I think even he himself knows that. Such a talent would be wasted if I were to be in combined as I wouldn't be able to show my mastery in sciences. Alas, I had proved that I'm really worthly of my combination by maintaining an undeniablely great understanding of these two subjects throughout the entire year by unsurprisingly achieving the highest grade for both.
Yeah! Oh well, my Maths is still atrocious...
Confessions #4After buying Keane's Under The Iron Sea, I immediately fell in love with ALL of his songs. The way he sings, it's just so soothing and pleasant to the soul. Every single night, I listened to his songs, thinking of how it mimics my life. I can't believe that some of them did actually represent me! Eventually, I added Keane to my personal list of favourite artists and thus far, there are now seven artists. As cliche as it sounds, I called them my seven wonders of the music world. To qualify as one of the wonders, I must at LEAST have one of the artists' albums and I must love their music too. Obviously. =P
In alphabetical order, they are
1. ColdplayColdplay are an alternative rock band from London, England.
Being well-known for their hit singles such as "Yellow", "Speed Of Sound" and "Clocks", they have achieved tremendous success in the music industry. They did came to Singapore once, I think it was a few months ago while they were on their "Twisted Logic" tour. Being the financially deprived me, I didnt manage to catch them live! Honestly, I'm plain jealous of those people who did. Just don't let me find out who you are and you shall be safe. =)
2. Franz FerdinandOh my goodness, I even missed this band's concert when they came to Singapore. I was too financially wrecked then, so I had no choice but to sleep at home. If I wasn't refering to the rock band that originated from Scotland, Franz Ferdinand would refer to the Archduke of Austria that was sadly assassinated together with his wife on June 28, 1914, at approximately 11:00 am, which eventually triggered World War 1.
Nonetheless they look crazy but importantly, they make good crazy music. Even their music videos are crazy and you just can't seem to decipher the message they are trying to send you. Being crazy i guess? Besides for "Take Me Out" and "Do You Want To", I must seriously say that they are a band to look out for in the future. They won't just release only two albums so I'm expecting lots more to come.
3. KeaneAh, the band that I explicitly mentioned earlier in this confession. One of the few bands that uses piano as the main instrument instead of guitars, must be extremely hard to do so eh? Actually not. Maybe it's due to the fact that they are from England! This English piano rock band is made up of only three members, the fewest that I ever known for a band. If you know any lesser, please inform me on my tagboard.
It's amazing to see that a group of three very talented musicians can come up with some of the most brilliant music pieces that I had ever heard. With songs such as "Somewhere Only We Know" and "Nothing In My Way", the band eventually gained the status of "the band with no guitars". Still, I highly doubt that they are going to retire any time soon and lets hope that more good music comes our way from this band.
4. NightwishI wish for something, I wish for Nightwish! This was the last band to enter my seven wonders of the music world and seriously, I'm glad that my wish was granted! Have you ever heard of a symphonic metal band before in your life? If you haven't, maybe it's because you haven't been to Finland as that's where they are from!
5. RammsteinI actually don't understand this band at all, because their German origin means that you can't never understand what they are singing.
6. The BraveryAnother one of my favourites, this is an American alternative rock band, just like Coldplay, but they come from New York.
This band is quite known for its number one hit single, "The Honest Mistake", which sounds very techno-like but don't believe the critics! I used to remember the times when this song was still very popular and everyone kept on singing it during lessons. Apart from that, the addictive music video shows LOTS of dominos falling in a very weird way, not something that you see often in music videos.
7. The KillersDo you feel like killing me? Maybe before you do, meet The Killers! Las Vegas is their hometown and they are in constant pursuit of a alternative rock genre to their songs. I personal think they have made a superb job of their last album, Sam's Town, which I managed to download for free.
Confessions #5Throughout the whole year, if you had been well observant enough, my blogskin has ALWAYS stayed the same. Why is this so? Well, I do believe that ever since I created this blog on the 1st of October 2005, I decided to stay faithful to this blogskin, the reason being for the intensity of blue but it was mostly due to the phrase 'unconditional love'. I has been craving for it for as long as this blog was up and running. Hence, to show my unmatched admiration for unconditional love, I didn't change my blogskin, not even once. This constrasts greatly to how often I had change my mistress, also known as everyone's favourite electronic gadget, the handphone. Over a period of less than a year, I changed it 3 times. Maybe it was because I had just acquired my mistress and I was too eager to possess better ones. From Nokia's 7260 to Motorola's L7. So as to stop my constant pursuit for better phones, I decided that the next phone in my possession must look as grand or stunning as possible. That was when I got my hands on the Motorola's V3i D&G and as of the time of writing, is one of the two golden coloured phones on the market. Although it costed me a bombshell of $678, I realised that the awe of my now current phone is unmatched by any other. The feeling that I get while holding it, just makes me feel so special. Well although I can't post any pictures of my mistress, do visit this link to see it.

Sarali's 1 Year Anniversary
Well it's obvious isn't it, why it was my favourite day of the year. Although it's over now, "it will remain etched in our memories" as quoted by her. Well, I didn't actually posted about that perfect day, so I will copy the whole post from her blog. Sorry sayang. =)
12 October 2006
yesterday was like something i've never experienced before. its was really one of the best days in my whole life! i haven't felt so good and happy and *any other positive words i can think of* in a very long time. if not for the misfortunes, yesterday would be PERFECT! yes, P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!! it really really made my day and i never want yesterday to end at all!
some words to describe yesterday:full of smiles and laughter, full of honey and sugar *sweetness*, super memorable, very touching, sentimental, emotional, amazing, cool, fun, full of hot stuffs, full of excitement, full of tears *moved to tears*, etc etc etc.
i dont know how else to describe the amazing enjoyment of yesterday. just cant get enough of it! i want more!!!! hahaha! must really thank abang for doing all those things and going through so much to make yesterday a memorable one.
here's what happened yesterday.he fetched me from home and then we went to bedok int for awhile to look for something that my mum asked to buy.then we took bus no. 7 to plaza singapura.took the lift to the 7th level and bought movie tickets. we wanted to watch 'Stay Alive' at first but found out that there was none, dunno how come. so we bought the 2.50 show, 'World Trade Center' since the other movies doesnt sound interesting.
it was like around 1.30 then. so we decided to walk around for awhile. and then we took neoprint! yay. finally our third neoprint together. this time, it was like so much better than the previous one. the previous one was like haywire coz we panicked abit becoz of the japanese stuffs written there and we couldnt understand anything. this time, the pictures are all very nice. some were funny especially the one with the childish pose. yayy! neoprints on 12 oct. haha!at 2.45, we went up to enter the cinema. just then, we saw huanting and her fren outside. so we waved coz we knew each other although we were not close at all. hehe. and then i realised that they were watching the same movie as us! haha
but our seats were not very near each other. hehe. the cinema was so full lah! so many people. was it the first day of the movie release?? i dont think so. but it was just almost full(except for the first few rows).
the movie was nice lah. quite touching, actually but i didnt cry. i think some people cried.after that, we went toilet and i took quite long. hehe. then we went straight to esplanade for the exchange of gifts. haha.
and then we remembered that esplanade was officially opened on 12 october also! haha. that means we're celebrating our anniversary together with esplanade. hehes.
we sat on the place at the carpark level, with the TVs around. and then it all started. thats when i totally melted and moved to tears. omg. haha. its expected anyway.
i just love his poems and all. its just so sweet.. awww.... haha! ok. i totally didnt expect so many surprises from him lah.. its mainly his gifts and his words that melts my heart so much. couldnt stop crying for more than half an hour. omg. it was quite embarassing when people walked past and saw u crying like a baby. haha. i wished i was in my room at that point of time. so that i can lock myself inside and sit in one corner, hugging my pillow tightly and crying like mad. hehe.
just when i thought i was very unstable *coz i couldnt stop crying*, i asked him to just stop talking coz if he talk some more, the longer i would take to recover and be stable again. haha.i thought it was quite rude but i just had to do it or else he would just make me go mad. hehe.finally, after a very long time, i managed to become stable again. and gave him what i've got. it was another surprise but this time, he was the victim. muahahaha! shall not talk much abt that. =)
finally when we're both stable, we went to marina sq to break-fast. and guess where we ate?? haha. pizza hut!! wheeeheeeeeee... we ordered the new pizza, the one with the sunflower shape. it was not that nice for me leyy!! wth lah. im not sure whether it was supposed to be nice or not. but i know it just wasnt my taste. it was cheesy but in a negative way coz the cheese somehow, tasted not as nice as expected. so on the whole, the pizza did not taste as good as it looks. and becoz it wasnt as good as we expected, we took a super long time to finish up all the food.
anyway, after that, he wanted to eat some dessert at chocz. but we were already too full so we didnt go there in the end. in fact, we dont even know whether it is halal or not. after leaving from there, we went to where the big merlion was vomitting. and then we sat there, right on the same spot where we sat on 23 November 2005. haha. it was another reminiscence for us. =))
finally by the time we got up, it was already like 10pm. that's when the whole day ended in a negative way.the bus was too late so we tried to get a cab but the cabs were all either on call, or hired. darn. finally, the bus came. he sent me home, and by the time i stepped in, it was around 11.30pm. oppsie! got into another trouble, which was quite minor. hehes. luckily my mum is more patient. =P love her so much.
i was too tired and lazy to bathe so just changed clothes. aki was still awake then, watching WWE on TV3. the rest were already sleeping. so i called abang. luckily, there was still a bus in service then so that he doesnt need to take a cab. he was on the bus when i called him and we talked and talked and talked until he reached his room. talked for about 1 hour and then finally put down the phone at 12++. bedtime! sadly, 12 October was over. gone for good. but it will remain etched in our memories. =)) if only the day never ended.
Well I hope that day wouldn't end as well but we still have another 12 October 2007 to look up for. =)
ExitludeA few phrases from me.
Always be optimistic.
Never let stress conquer you.
Finally, a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. =)
